Amanda Olson de Castillo
I have served as Pastor of Creator Lutheran Church since November 2019. Originally I am from Minnesota, and am a St. Olaf College graduate where I studied chemistry and math before a semester in the Middle East where I first felt called to be a pastor. After graduating from Luther Seminary, I spent just shy of 10 years as a missionary pastor in Guatemala before returning to the States. My husband, Horacio, and I are parents to Abigail and Joaquin. Together we enjoy karate, exploring the Pacific Northwest, our dog, and our home in Buckley, WA.
I have happily been a nursery attendant at Creator Lutheran Church since June of 2016. My background includes 10 years of teaching and directing a traditional pre-school in California, as well as providing care to my fabulous grandchildren who have been in California, Kentucky, Georgia, Colorado, and Washington. I have six grown and wonderful children: Molly, Mike, Mindy, Melissa, Miranda, and Matthew, and am proud to be “Nana” to 17 grandchildren! Besides spending time with my family, I enjoy reading, solving word games, finding treasures at the thrift store, cooking, collected recipes, putting together family cookbooks, and taking walks through God’s beautiful world!
I am an attendant in the nursery at Creator Lutheran Church. I am the mother to four wonderful children, three girls and one boy. I have also been blessed with 15 grandkids aged 5 months to 21 years old. I have always loved working with children, starting with a position as assistant teacher in a Day Care Center. I also drive a school bus for the district’s children needing special care.
Office Ministry Coordinator
I have been working at Creator Lutheran Church as an Office Ministry Coordinator since November 2019. Prior to that I spent over 30 years in medical/surgical administration. I live in Bonney Lake with my husband, Steve. We are parents to two grown sons, Shane and Dalton. Dalton and his wife, Katie, are expecting our first grandchild in January 2021. In my leisure time I enjoy reading, gardening and traveling to new places.
Originally from California, I earned my degree in Journalism from California State University San Bernardino. I enjoy reading, video games, writing, being outdoors, and anything pertaining to horror. I have a dry sense of humor. I’m very easy to get along with, all the more so if you bring me sweets.
