Stephen Ministry at Creator
Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2, NRSV).
Stephen Ministry is the one-to-one caring ministry that takes place in congregations using the Stephen series system. This system trains and empowers lay caregivers—called Stephen Ministers—to provide high-quality, confidential, Christ-centered care to people who are hurting. Stephen Ministers are people with a compassionate heart who’ve been equipped with the skills to listen, encourage, and offer support.
A Stephen Minister usually provides care to one person at a time, meeting with that person once a week for about an hour. Whatever is shared is confidential.
Stephen Ministers can also provide care for people in the broader community—relatives, friends, and coworkers of congregational members; nonmembers whom the congregation serves; as well as military personnel and their families. Stephen Ministry is a powerful way to enhance and expand a congregation’s outreach.
If you or someone you know could benefit from a Stephen Minister, please contact Pastor Heidi or the church office (253-862-7700) for more information.
