At Creator we come together to worship, grow and serve others by the power of the Holy Spirit for the glory of God.  We are a called people, gathered, enlightened and set-apart to be made holy.  What would our faith community look like if we responded fully to live for the glory of God?  What does stewardship have to do with this invitation from God?

Stewardship is a joyful response to God’s call to live purposefully for Him by managing our time, talents and treasures for His glory.  Our committee is a prayer-based and focused small group committed to living out stewardship in our own lives and encouraging our faith community as a whole to hear and respond eagerly to God’s call.

Gary Marsh, says it this way, "...offerings (tithes) are expressions of devotion to God and a means to support the work of the church and create pools of sufficiency for all."  In other words, Offering = Worship!

Giving really is fun when it's done with a joyful heart; and we have SO much to be joyful for at Creator!  Watch and listen as the Stewardship Team works to highlight those things for which we ALL can give thanks!

Prized Posessions!

Worth repeating... here's the gospel lesson from September 8th!  And the epistle lesson on Philemon had Mike and Nita Rutkosky and Judi Richardson counting their silver forks and spoons.  Ask Pastor Elaine for more on that if you missed it...

Luke 14:25-33  New International Version (NIV)

The Cost of Being a Disciple

25 Large crowds were traveling with Jesus, and turning to them he said: 26 “If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple. 27 And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.

28 “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it? 29 For if you lay the foundation and are not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule you, 30 saying, ‘This person began to build and wasn’t able to finish.’

Stewardship: Brought to you by the Letter "I"

Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.[NIV]

letter I.jpgSunday September 1, 2013.  Our worship service may as well have been brought to us by the Letter ‘I’.

We installed an Intern, adopted an Interim Pastor, Invited folks to participate in Sunday School, Adult Education, Women’s BBQ, Choir and Music, as well as said an Invocation, some of us even took communion by Intinction! (Ok, we do most of that every Sunday!)

Summer Time!

God sure blesses us with long summer days and warm weather that invites all kinds of outdoor fun! I just love this time of the year when I get a chance to dig out the sandals from the back of the closet and make plans to head for the beach ...which reminds me, I'll need to pick up some sunscreen! Have you noticed the endless formulas of sunscreen products? There are a ton of different brands, different SPFs, some designated for the face, some for the body (aren't they connected?); some are waterproof and same say that they are "made for babies"!

So how do we decide what's best?

God always shows us what's best! He gave us the Holy Spirit to direct our decisions in life - even when we aren't aware! Not only does God bless us with summer time fun, and helps us with all our decisions, He blesses us with sunscreen products and... the "ultimate Son screen"!

God sent His Son to cover our sins and to protect us from evil. His Son is eternal - long lasting - He never expires.

God's Son walked on water and He is ideal in and for all circumstances. His promises are perfect for children of all ages, for all ages! His grace is indeed all sufficient.

Painting a Picture of Stewardship

Painting a Picture of Stewardship?

What if framed canvases balancing on easels indicated intentional giving?

What if brush strokes striking with regular rhythm, matched our heart beat and love for God?

What if blending of watercolors danced from generosity and melted down the page of time?

What if the first silhouette, first thoughts gave birth to joy in the very first moment of giving?

What if dimension became proportionate, became a tenth, became an easy and permanent design?

What if tithing and serving and identifying meaning was deeply textured with delight and cheerfulness?

What if 2 Cor 9:6-7, 1 Cor16:2, 2Cor 8:1-2, Deut 26:1-2 and Mark 12:41-44 were exactly a thousand words?

What if we reframe the picture of our stewardship life and ask God to paint it?

Biblical stewardship indeed draws us closer to God.

Stewardship: Re-gifting?

John 3:17 “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”

In Christ we are given His love, His Spirit of generosity, His enabling to forgive as He first forgave you and me. If God wants to save the world through Him, what does He want from you and me? Will you join me this Easter Season in praying for strength and courage to re-gift His love, generosity and forgiveness? Isn’t holy re-gifting what stewardship is really all about?
